Leaving an AI companion should not require a dramatic decision. Treat it as an account task: identify the subscription, stop renewal, remove saved material, request deletion where appropriate, and keep a confirmation.
The exit sequence
First identify where billing is managed. Then cancel renewal and save the confirmation. Next review chat history, memory, media and connected sign-ins. Finally find the account-deletion route and read what the service says about retention or backups.
Deletion is not cancellation
A canceled plan can leave an account open. A deleted conversation can leave account records or billing history. We keep these actions separate in every review because the controls answer different questions.
After you leave
Check for confirmation email, sign out of shared devices, remove saved passwords and watch the next statement. If the route is unclear, record the date and ask support a narrow question rather than sending more personal information.
Before paying, read the cost ledger; before trusting a memory feature, read the privacy guide.
What we know / what remains uncertain
